20. Try a silicone blender.

After years of using absorbent sponges to blend out face makeup, the tide is turning. Silicone sponges, also called silisponges, are the new wave in application. The sponge is smooth, clear, and doesn’t soak up product. Therefore, it could save you money by preventing waste.

And since it isn’t soaking up makeup and oil, there’s reason to believe it could be more sanitary and healthier for skin. One thing’s for sure – it’s easy to clean. Can you say that about your current blender?

If you’re interested in how these things are discovered, we’re happy to tell you that the silisponge’s story is truly wacky. Prior to the mass marketing of these and similar products, some seriously experimental makeup lovers found that using silicone bra inserts, frequently known as ‘chicken cutlets’, to blend their makeup left them with smooth, even results. Your mileage may vary, but it’s worth trying if you’re still on the hunt for a non-cakey look with no waste and less bacteria.
