This spooky photo shows a frozen Russian soldier who was propped up by Finish defenders, back in 1939. The idea was to intimidate Russian soldiers during the Winter War.
The six-year-old girl pictured above is Ruby Nell Bridges Hall, the first black child who attended the all-white William Frantz Elementary School, New Orleans in 1960. Her mother was quoted saying that her daughter is about to “take this step forward … for all African-American children.” She was completely right!
