Anschluss is the term that described the annexation of Australian into Nazi Germany, back in 1938. Anschluss roughly translates to “union.”
The idea behind Anschluss was to re-unite all Germans living outside of the Reich in order to create an “all-German Reich.” Anschluss was met with big enthusiasm among Nazis.
