Don Quijote Airport, Spain – Otherwise known as Ciudad Real Central Airport, this was planned to be a big international airport. It cost more than $1.1 billion to be constructed, but was open for no more than 4 months. The airport filed for bankruptcy (with more than $340 million in debt) in October 2010.
