Potala Palace – The first fortress was built on this location in 637, but the modern palace dates back to 17th century. It used to be a home to the Dalai Lama, until the 1959 Tibetan uprising. Potala Palace, which is located in Lhasa, Tibet, now serves as a museum and World Heritage Site.
